Exceptional luxury home design starts with a great idea
When people first set out on the journey to building their dream home, they typically have an idea of what they want to achieve both aesthetically and functionally.
So how do you successfully create a truly unique and alluring home which speaks to your personal taste and style? Often it comes down to the ability of your home builder to not only listen to what you want to achieve, but to fully comprehend and accurately translate your requirements into an outstanding finished home.
Bringing your ideas to life
At Glenvill, our No. 1 priority is understanding you and what you want to achieve, right from the drawing board.
This is why the first step when you choose to build with us is a conversation with one of our design managers—with a wealth of experience and creativity, our designers know how to find not only what you want and need in a home, but also what inspires and excites you.
To help us form the most accurate depiction of what you want to achieve, it’s helpful to come prepared with a sense of your desired style, features and functional requirements, then we can help turn them into reality!
Name your custom home design style
Do you like a minimalist contemporary feel? Do you see yourself living in Hamptons style coastal luxury? Are you in love with class-filled classical design?
Knowing the overall style you want to achieve will help guide the theme we can inject throughout your home. Take this Caulfield North client as an example.
Designed originally as a contemporary home, the clients decided they preferred a ‘Tuscan’ look. With its high ceilings, two storey void at the side entry and some tweaking to the floor plan, the change was made with the addition of the pitched roof, a front veranda and columned entry way.
Features galore throughout your new home
Whether it’s elevated ceilings, revealed skylights, expansive voids, polished concrete floors, large expanses of glazing…coming prepared with your list of both internal and external prerequisites will ensure a well-considered and feature-filled finished home.
The clients’ building this three-storey residence in Ivanhoe wanted a pitched roof with wide eaves and 50mm brickwork, all while taking advantage of their sloping site which nicely accommodated garaging and a games room on the lower level, with two storey living above.
Functionality is key
It doesn’t matter how beautiful your home is if it doesn’t suit your lifestyle—beyond thinking about the basics of your functional requirements like the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and garaging space, it’s helpful to think about the way you live.
- Do you want flowing open-plan living, or would you prefer a series of well-connected yet distinct spaces?
- Do you need spaces dedicated for a special purpose, like a study, library or studio?
- Do you value seamless indoor-outdoor living, or is it not as important to you?
These are all factors that will help us formulate the optimal floor plan to meet the demands of your family and lifestyle.
This four bedroom plus study home in Hampton was designed with the ground floor living rooms all surrounding and opening onto the alfresco area and the 13m lap pool. Designed for entertaining, large expanses of glazed doors slide away to connect the indoors and outdoors.
On point with the brief
At Glenvill the custom home design process is thorough. Every single detail is considered and incorporated long before any building begins, giving you piece of mind that your completed home will not only meet your expectations, but exceed them.
