Located in Barwon Heads, this home complements its surrounding environment. Matt approached the interiors with a minimal coastal aesthetic, layering in warmth and texture to create spaces that feel calm yet inviting. Soft timbers, warm tiles and neutral stone finishes subtly reference the coastal environment without leaning into overt beach styling.

These elements are enhanced by accents of terracotta, lush browns, muted yellows and soft green; tones chosen to evoke a sense of calm and connection to sand, nature and landscape.

At the centre of the home, the kitchen, living and dining areas are the primary space for gathering. Recognising the importance of this area in bringing the family together, ceiling heights were increased to enhance volume, light and the sense of openness.

A curved island benchtop takes centre stage, encouraging connection and conversation, while fluted glass joinery softens the space and complements the natural expression of the stone benchtops. These layered textures add depth and interest, enhancing the experience of the space.

Beneath the sculptural staircase, Georgia added a thoughtful moment of design, which transforms what could have been unused space into something truly special. This hidden children’s zone introduces an element of play and personality, allowing our client and their children to create cherished moments.

Curves are a defining feature throughout the home. From the exterior facade to the interior walls and statement staircase. These flowing forms soften the overall design, creating a sense of movement and ease that aligns naturally with the coastal setting, while remaining synonymous with Glenvill’s design approach.

These flowing walls continue into the main bedroom ensuite, one of the home’s most striking spaces. Designed as a private retreat, the ensuite features a curved wall finished in textured kit kat tiles. A circular freestanding bath complements the surrounding curves, reinforcing the sculptural architecture of the space.

An overhead oculus skylight draws natural light into the room, enhancing the softness of the finishes, while a burgundy marble benchtop introduces contrast and warmth. The ensuite is rich in detail; a carefully considered space that feels both luxurious and personal.

The client’s block presented a number of challenges, from site requirements to design considerations. Throughout the process, our client had the opportunity to explore a selection of design options, allowing the layout and functionality of the home to be maximised while ensuring they remained confident and satisfied at every stage of the journey.
