Effective from July 1, 2024, governments are implementing a ban on the use of engineered stone due to health concerns related to crystalline silica exposure. This ban affects the supply and installation of engineered stone products across the industry. Despite this sudden shift, Glenvill Homes has proactively updated our inclusions to feature Mineral crystalline silica-free benchtops.

For clients wondering about the implications of this change, it’s important to note that Glenvill Homes has already switched to using Mineral crystalline silica-free surfaces in our standard offerings.

If you have previously selected stone in your build, we are not able to go through with this beyond 30th of June due to government requirements. One of our team members will assist you and provide the alternative mineral crystalline silica-free surface in the same, or similar colour.

The move towards silica-free surfaces is crucial for ensuring the health and safety of our workforce. Although the current product is not harmful to end consumers once installed, the law changeover to silica-free surfaces was made to protect the workers in manufacturing facilities when they cut the product. The silica-free surfaces are manufactured using recycled glass, polymer resins, and pigments, making it a safer and equally durable choice for your home’s surfaces.
